Yosemite 2016

Yosemite National Park august 2016

Clouds Rest - the summit goal for this trip; a name that evokes an irresistible siren call, one we had to heed.

Beginning at Tuolumne Meadows, to Sunrise camp, to Clouds Rest campsite, to Clouds Rest, and ending in the Valley. 5 days, 4 nights, back in the bosoms of mother nature.

Lots of deer sightings on this trip.
On the way to Clouds Rest, Bambi ambled across our trail, chomping on breakfast, as it both eyed and ignored us. The day before, a buck came up to the edge of our campsite for an inspection.

Cathedral Peak.

The trail.

The campsites.

A window to the night sky from our tent. The Perseid meteor shower was on display. The Milky Way was most visible on the first two nights.

Good morning Half Dome.

The prize.

The end-of-trek reward. (plus ice cream)

The upgrade from 2-person tent.

Thank you John Muir.

Sierra Club lodge/conservation center.
(socks and sandals? back in fashion.)

The Majestic Ahwanee Hotel. (lunch only. would not have met dress code for dinner.)

A few locals.

The journey ahead for the boys.
